MPP Dom-Ino reimagines Maison Dom-Ino, an open floor plan modular structure designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. It aims to create a modular system constructed of mass plywood panels that allow for flexible interiors and exteriors. As a result, the building can be altered to fit contemporary needs and usage.
The Concept
This diagram describes the process intended behind the project. The prospective owner or developer starts with the base structure, then decides how many floors they want the structure(s) to be, then chooses the plans from a list of options, then chooses any built-ins, next is the roof structure + form, then lastly is the elevation design. The final project is one of both architect and owner design.
Density Studies
Separated Units
Separated units with linked parcels.
Linked Units
Linked units + linked parcels
These density studies explore the idea of "Linking." Linking in this context, connects either multiple units together, or multiple parcels together. Linking units together creates a denser population in one or more parcels, while linking parcels together can tie communities together to create a larger mass.

The Elevations + Sections
These elevations and sections showcase not only possible exterior designs, but also how the interior can be laid out. They are in order from most traditional in residential design, to most contemporary to feature the flexibility in design possibility.
The Details
These details show the specifics on how the structure is built.
The Case Study
The Case Study takes the concept and elements previously mentioned and uses them in a real life scenario. This site being in the CUF neighborhood of Cincinnati, in which 438 and 440 W McMicken Ave. are linked together. Although these units are intended to be for rent, separated units and a linked parcel arrangement was deployed to create a sense of ownership and community in a predominantly renter and young adult neighborhood.
